Discover London’s secret gardens

Hop on a Santander Cycles or grab your own bike and take a break from the busy streets of the city to cycle to some of London’s secret gardens. 🌸

🌸 Rosmead Gardens

Start by hiring a Santander Cycle from Ladbroke Grove central docking station. Use our docking station map to find your nearest bike.

Follow the directs to Rosmead Road in Notting Hill where you’ll find Rosmead Gardens. These gardens were featured in the film Notting Hill, where Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant hop over the fence to walk around the garden. Unfortunately, this is a private garden, but you can still catch a glimpse of the famous location through the gate.

Hop back on your cycle and follow the route to Holland Park. You can’t cycle through the park so you can dock your cycle here.

🌷 Kyoto Garden

Take a short stroll from Holland Park to Kyoto Garden.

In this traditional Japanese garden, watch the beautiful waterfalls, spot peacocks and carp in the serene ponds and relax in the greenery.

From here you can pick up another bike at Holland Park docking station and start the next leg of your journey to Hyde Park.

🌳 Hyde Park

Your next stop is Hyde Park. Dock your bike here and take a wander through the gardens of Hyde Park.

Explore The Rose Garden of Hyde Park, walk down to The Dell or discover the wilder side of the park.

When you’re ready for your final stop, head to the nearest docking station to pick up a bike.

🌻 Chelsea Physic Garden

Dock your bike at Phene Street and walk over to your final stop, Chelsea Physic Garden.

This is one of the oldest and most respected botanic gardens in Europe and is home to 5,000 different plants.

Founded in 1673 by The Worshipful Society of Apothecaries of London for its apprentices to study medicinal plants and their uses, it became one of the most important centres of botany and plant exchange in the world. Chelsea Physic Garden’s plant collection is unique in being the only botanic garden collection focused on medicinal, herbal and useful plants.
