Members of our Youth Panel took to the streets of London with disposable cameras. They were given a photography brief to capture what London means to them. Have a scroll through the best shots and find out more about their adventures! 🚶

📍: Peckham
🗣: ‘I’d never seen a slide like this one so I snapped a picture of a child going down it. The ear in the picture belongs to my boyfriend as he was with me walking back from Peckham where we had gone to pick up some things from the shops. I always try to walk if the distance is reasonable. By walking we were getting some light exercise and also getting a chance to talk and enjoy being together. In my opinion, taking a walk with somebody can be just as nice as getting a meal together and is a great way to have a good conversation. However, if I’m walking by myself, it’s a chance to listen to a podcast or just think.’

📍: Sydenham
🗣: ‘I took this photo on a Green Walk/Cycleway from Sydenham heading towards Catford. As a wheelchair user, it’s nice to have safe and non-congested routes to travel along with friends – especially in the summer, when the weather is nice!’

📍: Tower Bridge
🗣: ‘Walking and cycling are extremely important parts of my life. The positive health impacts it has on the body and the mind are amazing and I feel we need to move towards this. Plus, the issue of global warming is positively impacted by active travel, giving us even more reason to walk and cycle in the city!

📍: Aldersbrook
🗣: ‘This is a three-minute walk from my house and I thought it was wonderful because it embodies just how I live in the ‘Garden of London’. It’s incredibly green and looked like a wave of trees! I think that walking means a more cohesive society can be achieved. In fact, I recently met a girl called May as I was walking down the road I took my picture on. Walking gives us better opportunities to meet people and communicate and connect. Also, nature is wonderful and I love getting to see it up close
