Ada Lovelace scavenger hunt and competition update

It was Ada Lovelace Day on Tuesday October 10, and all this week we’ve been celebrating the pioneering computer scientist with a scavenger hunt that focuses on monuments to trailblazing women across London. You still have until Sunday to get out there and snap some pictures on the scavenger hunt – you may even win a prize.

Full details of the scavenger hunt and competition are on this week’s earlier post. Here’s an update on how #FindingAda has gone so far – make sure you get involved!

Historic England announced the search for Ada and other amazing women on Tuesday morning:

Ada Lovelace Day 2017 scavenger hunt and competition

We’re celebrating the first female computer scientist in honour of our growing position in the Tech and Data industries. You can get involved by participating in our scavenger hunt and entering our competition. Did you know that Transport for London is a major player not just in transport, but also in many careers that stem (pardon the pun) from Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths (STEM) backgrounds.

This year, we’re celebrating the T in STEM on Ada Lovelace Day. On 10 October, join in as we celebrate the women behind the scenes in technology. Hosted by the TfL Women in Technology group (a community affiliated with the TfL Women’s Network), it will be a jam-packed day of events, with a scavenger hunt and competition.

Making a monster bike

Summer holidays can feel like they go on forever and, towards the end of it, the days just seem to repeat themselves. So, after being strapped in a pram for weeks, endless play dough sessions, never-ending rolling around in blankets, curtains and laundry and working nightshifts building things with bricks, my son had just had enough. Was there nothing better to do?
