Cycling the school run

Meet Denise, Isabelle and Elijah. 👋

Denise has been cycling for many years with her kids and loves the freedom that it brings. Hear how she swapped the bus to cycle the school run instead.

Why we started cycling 🚲 🚲 🚲

I chose to cycle with the kids to school because it’s quicker than the bus, it’s free and it means that we all get some exercise in every day. 💪

There have also been times when I’ve been stuck on public transport and have been late to pick the kids up from school, but I’ve never been late when I’ve cycled. 🙌

I’ve been cycling for many years, so I made sure my kids learnt to cycle when they were 4 years old. I contacted the local authority and got them both cycle training in their local park. They’re now aged 9 and 11 and have both done their Bikeability Level 2.

How cycling has made a difference to our lives ❤️

Cycling is something that we can all do as a family so we can spend some quality time together.👩‍👧‍👧

It also saves me time as I don’t need to go to the gym because I’ve combined my exercise with my commute. Plus, my kids have become fitter and healthier.

We all enjoy being outdoors and the freedom that cycling brings. 🌳

Our favourite routes 🚴‍♀️

We love cycling through the marshes of east London, particularly Walthamstow, Tottenham and Hackney marshes. 🍃

For the school run and my commutewe try to cycle on quiet roads and through marshes, parks and open spaces.
