Science Museum
The kids (and you!) will be amazed at what you can see and do at the Science Museum. Best of all, most activities are 🆓!
From touching a real moon rock and seeing the satellites and rockets 🚀 used to explore space, to sitting in flight simulators, watching lightning strike ⚡, sitting under a canopy of stars 🌟 and visiting the award-winning exhibition on how maths connects our lives. Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Playground
In the summer sun there’s nothing better than getting the kids outside in the fresh air. ☀️
Inspired by Peter Pan, kids can play for hours in the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Playground.
They could be pirates 🏴☠️ on a massive wooden ship, surrounded by a sandy beach. Or camp in teepees, dodge sea monsters, play on the giant swing, talk to each other on ‘tree phones’, cool down in the water fountains ⛲ or go on a sensory trail. There’s also visits by clowns and storytellers, plus lots more.
Kew Gardens
Want to get lost in the wilderness for the day? 🍃 Explore the world-leading botanical Kew Gardens. With plants, flowers 🌼 and trees that you and your kids will have never seen, a walkway high in the treetops 🌳 and a 17-metre-tall Hive, there’s so much to explore.
Kids can hunt for dragons and find out what King George III liked to eat. They can also play garden games, follow Gnomus the giant gnome as he talks about the amazing plants and search for bananas, coconuts, cocoa and coffee, plus much more 👏
Swim at the Serpentine Lido
When it’s boiling hot, cool down with a swim at the Serpentine Lido 🏊♀️. Located in Hyde Park, the Lido is over 100 years old and is a great day out for your family.
There’s open water swimming, a paddling pool and playground for younger children. There’s also a sun terrace if you’d prefer to sit back and relax 😎.
Make the most of the summer sun and have a swim up until early September (it’ll be a bit chilly for a swim in autumn!).
London Zoo
Want to see penguins ‘fly’ underwater 🐧? Watch meerkats have their breakfast? Or hold a bird-eating spider? Then visit London Zoo to see some of the over 19,000 different animals 🤩 for a great family day out.

Children’s Story Centre
Let your kids’ imaginations run wild at the UK’s first Children’s Story Centre 📚. In the Story World and Story Garden, kids work with Story Builders to create their own stories and improve their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.
There are interactive exhibitions from some of their favourite authors like Dr Seuss or Oliver Jeffers. They can also listen to new storytellers, poets and musicians, see artists and take part in The Big Write Children’s Literature Festival. 😃
